In my last blog post I wrote about all of the negative physiological conditions associated with lack of exercise. While the average person may not know the specific consequences of a sedentary lifestyle, it is safe to say that most people know that they should be exercising. So if people know that they should be exercising, why aren't they? I don't think it is because of lack of information.
There is A TON of information on the internet about the benefits of exercise and how to do it properly. Over the past decade we have seen exercise explode into mainstream media but obesity rates have continued to climb. WHY???
The reason people still do not exercise even with all of this information right at their finger tips is because of a lack of motivation. We don't need more information on the internet. We don't need another Boflex-5000-Home-Gym-3-Minute-Instant-Abs infomercial. We need to figure out how to motivate people to stay committed to exercising on a regular basis. I didn't write this blog because I have a solution to this problem. PhD Exercise Psychologists spend their entire lives trying to solve this issue. I wrote this blog because I wanted to bring attention to the real reason people aren't exercising. Focus on finding what motivates you. It is different for everybody. Focusing on what motivates you will get you further in your fitness journey than reading another "Top 5 Ways to Burn Fat" article.
